Dia Island, surrounded by rocky bays, is almost 5 km long and 3 km wide. It is also called the “Island of Dragons” because, in profile, it resembles an ancient monster lying on the water. This island is a protected area, home to rare representatives of flora and fauna that are on the verge of extinction from the Aegean Islands. Nowadays, it is an uninhabited island without infrastructure or habitation, but during the era of the Minoan civilization, people lived on it, and it served as an important shelter and source of timber for the Minoan fleet. Having visited this place, you will long remember its enchanting sea views, pleasant salty air, and endless blue sky.
